"There is more than enough room in My Father's home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with Me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going." Jesus told him, " I am the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me." (Jo14:2-4,6)
Someone once said that you shouldn't judge a fish on its ability to fly. Ever felt like you don't belong, that others around you fit in and are making the most of things but not you; people just don't get you and you are different? Well, that's because you are! You have talents and gifts to share with others here on earth and through trial and error and the revelation of the Holy Spirit you will find these if you haven't already. But you also have a place in eternity where you will fit perfectly. You are being crafted and honed for the job you were designed for before the foundation of the world when God chose you. (Ep1:4) God starts from the finished product, who He sees we will become, and works back to here and now. You have no idea what the final product will look like except that you will be like Jesus.
It can be compared to building a house. The owner plans the house then hires a builder who organises the materials and the people with the different abilities, such as plumbers, needed to build the house. If all the components were stored in a warehouse, they wouldn't look anything like a house and there would be parts that the owner didn't recognise or even realise were part of a house because they are covered up in the final product. The house would contain products that others had made, like the taps and flooring. (Our lives reflect the input that others have had on us.) The finished house would reflect the quality of the materials and the people involved in the build.
While the building is in the course of construction there is a skip outside for the offcuts and the discarded rubbish that may have served a purpose as wrapping for a product until it was delivered and installed but then it is no longer needed. We grow as we allow the Holy Spirit to expose our hearts and discard what is no longer required and is holding us back. Allowing the layers of junk that have tarnished and hidden our God-likeness to be peeled back.
We are God's building with Christ as our foundation (1Co3:9,11) We are in the course of construction. Everything we need for living a godly life has been given to us by God (2Pe1:3) Our physical makeup has been planned from the foundation of the world so that through the right genealogy we would have this exact DNA code that, with our new nature, make up who we are today. We have God's spiritual DNA because we are made in His image and born of the Spirit of God. There is nothing random about who and what we are, here and now. We are the perfect choice for this job, this spot on the planet, as we live in Jesus.
There is a place in heaven that Jesus has prepared especially for us and it is more than a dwelling place, it is a life that we will fit in perfectly. We won't feel like we just don't belong, we will know that we never fitted in with the world around us because we belonged to Jesus and He never fitted in either. "If the world hates you, remember that it hated Me first. The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it... (Jo15:18.19) Like a piece of a jigsaw that is placed in the correct place, we fit perfectly into the position that Jesus has for us. We can not see this right now, but we can trust God that He knows what He is doing.
Dear friends, we are "temporary residents and foreigners" (1Pe2:11) while we live here but we can do the good things He planned for us long ago (Ep2:10) knowing that one day God will give us a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. (2Pe1:11) One day we will be home and we will know it. We won't be homesick anymore or feel out of place, we will be with Jesus and our Father at last and we will fit in perfectly.
Praise the Name of Jesus!
