"Its legs were iron and its feet were a combination of iron and baked clay. As you watched, a rock was cut... it struck the feet of iron and clay, smashing them to bits. The whole statue was crushed into small pieces...(Da2:33,34)
Driving in my car adjusting the rear view mirror, it occurred to me that the rear window of the car is a lot smaller than the front window and the rear view mirror, that shows me the back window, is even smaller. The reason being that when I am doing 100kms down the motorway, what is in front of me is far more important that what's behind me. In my life it is the same, when I am full speed ahead on the path God has set before me, what is in front of me is far more important than what is behind me. But I can have feet of clay if I allow what has happened in my past drive the direction of my present and my future. My life must be 100% built on the Rock, Christ Jesus and the way I do this is to bring everything to the Cross and leave it there. God has forgiven me, I have forgiven myself and those who have deliberately or unintentionally sinned against me or hurt me. I have no guilt or shame, I am a new creation in Christ, the old life has gone.
Any unresolved issues in my life give me feet of clay, they make me vulnerable and then Satan can knock me out at any time by reminding me of these unresolved issues and their affect on me, they become my Achille's heel. Iron and clay don't mix and having Jesus as the foundation of my life will not give me a firm footing if His Rock foundation is mixed with unresolved issues that I am aware of and will not deal with. Today and the future I am heading towards are built on the experiences and the decisions of the past. I can't allow what I can not change to distract me or knock me off the path God has directed me to.
...but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. (Ph3:13)
Praise God for His unfailing love and mercy to me!
